Fear not, Five Points Firearms Training can help you gain the knowledge needed to create confidence in handling, shooting and carrying your firearm. The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is the course for you! Our instructor can teach you in your home, which may help ease the stress of handling the firearm for the first time. We also offer small classes to help create confidence and comradery among you and others in a similar situation. After the initial classwork study, the balance of the course is conducted in a local gun range, where you will shoot your firearm and gain additional confidence with your firearm.
For those gun enthusiasts who want to teach others the NRA way, the NRA Basic Pistol Course is the pre-requisite course required to proceed to the next level in the NRA training system.
NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a beginner firearm safety class. This class is for those who are new to firearms or have limited experience. The NRA Basic Pistol Course introduces new gun owners the correct way to handle a firearm, clean their weapon and protect themselves and others when handling a firearm. Extensive training and in-depth safety principles are stressed including the NRA rules for safe gun handling.
This objective-based class offers instruction in all facets of firearm ownership including safe gun handling, parts and components, operations, ammunition, maintenance, basic stances and shooting techniques in a classroom setting for the first portion of the class. The second half of the course is conducted at a local gun range, where students can utilize and practice the techniques and skills learned in the classroom.
For many students, this may be the first time they have handled a live weapon, so patience and individualized attention are very important.
Additionally, successful completion of this course will earn the student the certificate required to apply for a Concealed Firearm License from the Florida Department of Agriculture.
This is not an weapons handling course, although we do offer additional training for those who require it.
Upon successful completion, the student will earn a certificate which may be used to obtain a Florida Concealed Weapons Permit from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
